Lost Brahms piano piece to get its premiere
The two-minute piece, which was believed to have been written by the legendary Brahms in 1853, will receive its debut on BBC Radio 3 sometime in January, the Guardian reported.
The German pianist and composer entitled the piece Albumblatt and it had remained undiscovered for many years.
Despite only being 120-seconds long, it is considered a significant piece of music because it is similar to a piece of music that appears in the second movement of Brahms horn trio.
This was written 12 years after the two-minute piece was first produced.
"It shows that he'd been carrying around that tune for years," Roger Wright, controller of Radio 3, told the newspaper.
"That could be the case with all the other music we thought he wrote later – it may have had all kinds of prehistories that he destroyed."
Brahms was one of the leading pianists of the Romantic Period, which ran from 1810 to 1900.
