Linkin Park: New album is different

Linkin Park have announced that their fifth studio album is going to be different.
Great deals on musical instruments

Linkin Park are working on their fifth studio album, which represents a major shift in their style.

In what is seen as a sign of artistic growth as musicians, the band, who formed 15 years ago, announced that this would be an album that would "polarise" fans.

Chester Bennington, the band's lead singer, told Kerrang! that the songs would address "serious issues", which signals a new level of maturity.

The band have been working on the follow up to 2010's A Thousand Suns for the past two months.

"The music is great and we're well ahead of where we're expecting to be. There aren't a whole lot of noises going on, but there are a lot of good songs," Bennington told the magazine.

"It will probably get a very polarised reaction, which pleases me. As an artist, I want a reaction."

The lyrics of the songs are less personal and more serious, with the band dealing with topics to do with politics and faith.

Bennington noted that they were not being "preachy" but wanting to be part of the public conversation.

Last week the band headlined at the Download Festival.
