Lil Wayne's dental jail delay
Posted on 11 Feb 2010 07:30 to category : Music News

Lil Wayne narrowly escaped prison yesterday (09.02.10) - because he needs tooth surgery.
The rapper was due to be sentenced in New York, and expected to immediately start serving jail time of up to a year for being caught in possession of a firearm on his tour bus in 2007.
Wayne, 27, had spent the weekend preparing for his extended stay out of the limelight, and reportedly shot nine music videos, as well as watched the US Superbowl American Football match.
The date for sentencing was, however, adjourned to March 2 as Wayne has to have surgery on a cracked tooth.
His lawyer, Stacey Richman, said the 'Lollipop' rapper needs to fly to Miami for the tooth operation and requires ten days to recover, making the new date for sentencing February 25.
Judge Charles H. Solomon scheduled the proceedings for March 2, to ensure Lil Wayne will be fit for jail.
He, however, firmly added: "I don't want this to get pushed back anymore. This is the last adjournment."
In the early hours of Tuesday morning (09.02.10) Wayne recorded a farewell message to fans from the studio.
In the clip he says: "Tonight's my last night. I came to the studio to get some work done. To all you artists out there, that should be a message or example."
He adds: "Do not forget about me because I will forever think about you. I cannot wait for you to see me again."
