Liam Gallagher threw BRIT for fans
Posted on 15th Mar 2010 16:30 to category Music News
Liam Gallagher thinks throwing a BRIT Award into the crowd at this year's event was a "nice gesture".
The former Oasis frontman defended his behaviour at the event last month, where he swore and threw the trophy awarded to the group for BRITS Album of 30 Years for their second record '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' into the crowd.
He also snubbed his brother, Noel Gallagher, by not mentioning him in his short acceptance speech - despite Noel writing the songs on the album.
Answering as to why he threw the trophy into the crowd, he said: "I thought it was a nice Gesture to give this to the fans, obviously it was misinterpreted as per usual."
Of his snub, Liam told website Stopcryingyourheartout.com: "I'm sick of it all being about me and Noel, the last couple of months has pretty much been all about me and him so I thought it was only right to mention the other lads who played on the album and the best fans in the world."
He also addressed rumours rapper Jay-Z was interested in working with him, saying he would like to collaborate with the '99 Problems' singer.
Liam said: "If the tune's right and it's not too far out of my comfort zone, then yeah, f***ing right!"
Noel controversially blasted Jay-Z in 2008, when it was announced he would be playing at the Glastonbury music festival, saying it was "wrong" and he was "not having hip-hop at Glastonbury."
Jay-Z responded by opening his set with a snippet of the band's track 'Wonderwall'.
Meanwhile Noel has revealed he will be joined onstage by The Stone Roses and Primal Scream bass player Mani when he performs two shows for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity later this month.
