Liam Gallagher 'livid' at Robbie
Liam Gallagher was "livid" with Robbie Williams at last night's (16.02.10) BRIT Awards.
The former Oasis frontman caused outrage by swearing on the live TV, snubbing his former bandmate brother Noel from his acceptance speech and throwing his trophy - awarded for best BRITS Album of 30 Years- and microphone into the crowd.
Backstage, however, his mood worsened when he saw rival singer Robbie Williams, who was given an Outstanding Contribution award at the show, talking to his wife Nicole Appleton - who was engaged to the 'Angels' singer in the later 90s.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Liam was livid. He was muttering and pacing around when he heard that his wife had been reunited with his former arch rival."
Oasis fell out with Robbie in 2000 after the rock group branded him a "fat dancer" and their bitter war of words has continued ever since, with both sides criticising each other's music.
Although Liam was on the warpath, Best International Male winner Jay-Z set out to make peace with the former Oasis star.
Liam's brother Noel had originally blasted the '99 Problems' hitmaker saying hip hop had "no place" at the Glastonbury music festival.
The rapper responded by opening his set with a rendition of one of their biggest hits, 'Wonderwall'.
Jay-Z said at the awards last night: "We have had our words in the past but the fact is they were one of the biggest bands in the world and you don't become that big unless you are making music of the highest quality - if they ever got back together, I would really like to meet them."Posted on 17 Feb 2010 10:30 to category : Music News
