Les Paul's 'guitars for the stars' to be auctioned off
Posted on 9 Aug 2010 21:44 to category : Band / Celebrity News

A series of guitars signed by Les Paul and offered to famous stars are to be auctioned off.
The guitarist and inventor had a tradition of sending off guitars with a personalised message to some of the most famous names in showbusiness, but more than 50 were never claimed by their intended recipients.
As a result, the guitars are to be auctioned off in London this October, reports the Independent.
Among the musical instruments up for grabs are ones that were meant to be given to the likes of Madonna, Jon Bon Jovi, Prince and Sting.
Some of the musicians and actors who did manage to collect their signed guitars from Les Paul down the years include Keith Richards, Elton John, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt.
Earlier this year, the Gibson website described Paul as a "terrifyingly brilliant player", who helped to revolutionise the way music is recorded and played through inventions such as the solid-body electric guitar.
