Les Paul hailed as a revolutionary in the music business
Posted on 14 Aug 2009 10:45 to category : Instruments News
Les Paul, the electric guitar pioneer and veteran guitarist, sadly died on August 13th 2009 from complications relating to pneumonia.

However, development of the electric guitar began much earlier, with Les Paul inventing "The Log" in 1941 a four-by-four solid piece of wood with steel strings.
After drastically altering the instruments shape to make it look more traditional, the guitar became popular, with GibsonGuitars producing the Les Paul in 1952.
Since then it has been played by an illustrious list of artists including The Who, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Slash, formerly of Guns N' Roses.
The final Gibson guitars to receive Les Paul's commendation were a limited run of BFG Les Pauls.
The Limited Edition model bears Les Paul's genuine signature across the headstock, handwritten by Les Paul himself.
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards commented "all of us owe an unimaginable debt to his work and his talent."
Bon Jovi's guitarist Richie Sambora described Les Paul's role as "revolutionary in the music business."
