Les Paul award to be granted to Lindsey Buckingham
Fleetwood Mac's electric guitar player and singer Lindsey Buckingham is to be presented with a special accolade at the NAMM show later this month.
He is to be handed the Les Paul Award at the 26th annual Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards, with the ceremony being held on January 14th.
Buckingham, who has also worked as a composer and a producer over the course of his prolific career, is to be given the honour in recognition of his body of work exemplifying the creative application of audio technology, reports MI-Pro.
The prize will be jointly presented to the electric guitar player by producers Ken Caillat, Al Schmitt and Elliot Scheiner, a trio who have worked with the likes of The Beach Boys, Eric Clapton and Ray Charles during their separate careers.
A total of 25 awards will be handed out over the course of the evening, with the Les Paul prize being viewed as the most prestigious honour of the night.
Buckingham's new solo project is due to be released in the early part of this year and will be a follow-up to Gift of Screws, which came out in 2008.
