Lana Del Rey has promised fans that her new album is going to be much more "spiritual" than her debut.

The singer is currently working on the follow-up to Born To Die which received huge critical acclaim as well as scoring the top slot in both the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard Rock Albums.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the musician said that the second album "moved on to a more spiritual place lyrically". She revealed that work has already begun on the record in Santa Monica, California.

"It's a little more stripped down but still cinematic and dark. I've been working on it really slowly but I love everything I've done. Musically, I've worked with the same three guys. Now I just have to finish it," Del Rey added.

The Video Games singer was also recently successful at the Brit Awards 2013, scooping the International Female Solo Artist accolade holding off competition from the likes of Rihanna and Taylor Swift.

There has been no confirmed date on when the new record is due for release.
