Korn's sloppy start

Korn bassist Reggie 'Fieldy' Arvizu admits they were a ''sloppy'' band in the 90s.
Great deals on musical instruments

Korn were a "sloppy" band in the 90s.

The 'Freak On A Leash' metallers' bassist Reggie 'Fieldy' Arvizu admitted when they started out in 1993 their sound took a while to perfect, and he sympathises with bands of today who's bad shows are immediately uploaded to the internet.

He said: "Back in the day, Korn weren't always good. We were so sloppy, and we had to work everything out.

"Nowadays we have YouTube, which kind of sucks because if you play a bad show it's online that night. Back when we started, we had the grace to play shows and get tight."

Fieldy also said he is in the "beginning stages" of recording new material with fellow bandmates Jonathan Davis, James 'Munky' Shaffer and Ray Luzier for their tenth album, adding he feels he has an "odd" way of playing guitar because he is left handed, but plays guitar right handed.

He added to Artistdirect.com: "I learned to play right-handed. I didn't want to, but my dad said 'I don't care - you're learning to play right-handed. You're uncoordinated both ways'.

"It always felt unnatural, and I think that had a lot to do with the sound. I always want to throw in an unorthodox note - something that just doesn't go."
