Korg Monotron Praised Ahead of Release
Posted on 9 Jul 2010 09:51 to category : Instruments News

Korg's long awaited budget analog mono synth has been picking up plaudits ahead of its delayed release in a couple of weeks.
At just 12cm long, the Korg Monotron is a unique, real analogue synthesizeroffering a huge sound in a small, affordable, battery-powered package.
Lads mag Zoo have hailed the Monotron as ideal for musicians on the move - "you want a take-anywhere music-making machine? This is it."
With a ribbon controller along the front - think of a simpler Stylophone control - this is the ideal instrument for anyone wanting to add a little analog to their setup.
Stuff Magazine loved the diminutive synth, claiming, "We've licked it. It tastes amazing."
The Monotron has an LFO that can control one of two parameters at a time, pitch or cutoff.
In addition a genuine Voltage Controlled Filter is included, based on the classic MS-20 unit.
By adding an audio input to the Monotron, Korg have expanded the potential of the unit, allowing users to route their own sounds through it - ideal for any iPhone users out there.
Gear4music filmed a hands on video of the synthesizer in action back at Musikmesse in March - check it out below.
