Nathan Followill is not going to be getting behind his drum kit for three months after the Kings of Leon member underwent surgery.

The eldest member of the band will have to rest for the next 12 weeks after he tore his right bicep, which means the band have had to cancel some of their gigs in March.

"My bum wing needs more time to heal but we'll be back later this year. Sorry again," he said on his Twitter page.

Kings of Leon recently released their fifth studio album - Come Around Sundown - to mixed reviews.

They are nominated for the Worst Band accolade at the NME Awards, alongside JLS and the Jonas Brothers and it is a prize they will be hoping to avoid.

Among the groups other releases are Aha Shake Heartbreak, Because Of The Times and Only By The Night.

They achieved their highest charting position to date with Sex on Fire, which reached number one in 2008.

After the announcement of Nathan Followill's injury, his brother Jared also took to Twitter to announce that he was looking for fun things to do now he has March off.
