Kings Of Leon's Kurt Cobain moment
Kings Of Leon frontman Caleb Followill had a "Kurt Cobain" moment after the release of 'Only By the Night'.
The singer with the 'Sex On Fire' rockers said the unexpected success of the band's breakthrough fourth album inspired him to have a mini meltdown, where he felt like Nirvana singer Kurt, who was notoriously uncomfortable with his band's success and found celebrity very hard to deal with.
He told BBC6 Music: "I can remember, we were on the road and I just found out that my house had been broken into and on top of that the record was doing rally good
"And that was kind of my Kurt Cobain moment when I was hating the success, and I was scared and I thought people are going to think we did this on purpose and that we made this record so it could be big."
Caleb also said he thought the band's second album 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' would break them in the US, and by the time they wrote their fourth album without consciously trying to write big hits; and they were simply going for broke.
He added: "The first three didn't do nearly what we thought they would. I thought 'A-Ha Shake' would be the one that brought everyone around and like 'ok these guys are actually more than just moustaches'.
"The fourth album we just didn't care, we were just like we'll make the record we want to make and it is what it is and it's a win, win - if it becomes big and breaks us in America then so be it, if not then things can't get any worse."Posted on 12 Oct 2010 06:45 to category : Band / Celebrity News
