Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke is releasing a dance album.
The 'Helicopter' singer - who will perform solo under his first name only - says his debut LP 'The Boxer' is inspired by his love of clubbing and interest in different genres.
He told NME.com: "I've been into clubbing for years. I've said from the beginning I'm into dance, it gets me excited and I think this record is going to go some way to prove that to people, hopefully."
The 10-track album, which is scheduled for release on June 21, was recorded mainly in New York with the assistance of producer XXXchange.
The LP will be preceded by a single, 'Tenderoni', the week before.
Bloc Party are currently on hiatus so the group members - also including guitarist Russell Lissack, bassist Gordon Moakes and drummer Matt Tong - can focus on other projects.
Russell releases an album, 'Treasure Hunter', with his side-project Pin Me Down later this month.
Despite speculation the 'Hunting For Witches' hitmakers would split for good, Russell recently insisted he expects them to regroup later this year.
He said: "We're probably going to pick up again with Bloc Party later this year. I mean, we wrote a lot of new material on the last tour. What does it sound like? It's hard to say. It's still just sketches of songs. The feel will come together in the studio. We're definitely not splitting up, there's a lot more creative life left in it yet."
