Keith Richards wins immortality award
Fender Telecaster player Keith Richards has been honoured for his longevity.
The Rolling Stones legend was handed the Rock Immortal Award at this year's Spike TV Scream award ceremony in Los Angeles.
Richards was handed the gong by Johnny Depp, who co-starred with the electric guitar player in the last Pirates of the Caribbean film.
He won a standing ovation as he rose to collect the award at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
Commenting on the honour, the music veteran said: "I liked the living legend, that was alright, but immortal is even better."
The 65-year-old is responsible for some of the most memorable electric guitar riffs and licks in history, including (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Brown Sugar and Honky Tonk Women.
Rumours about The Rolling Stones appearing at next year's Glastonbury Festival are already doing the rounds, with William Hill putting 4/1 odds on Mick Jagger and co headlining the event.Posted on 19 Oct 2009 20:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
