Kate Bush to topple Adele at top of the charts
Kate Bush's new album Director's Cut is set to finally topple Adele's album 21 in the charts this week.
The iconic music superstar's ninth studio album, six years on from the release of Aerial back in 2005, is seen as the most fitting album to replace 21's astonishing 15-week run at the top of the charts given the enduring appeal of Bush and the current popularity of Adele.
The new album from Bush, who shot to fame with her unique and eclectic style of music and distinct vocal style, isn't actually that "new". It is largely a reworking of tracks from two of her previous records.
Songs from the 1989 album The Sensual World and the 1993 album The Red Shoes have been re-recorded, with some undergoing some significant transformations. It will disappoint some fans who were expecting a new body of music from Bush but will equally please many other fans who will be keen to hear how exactly she has transformed familiar songs from her repertoire.
The British Recorded Music Industry (BPI) recently revealed that Adele's album 21 is the biggest selling digital album of all time, which is something of an achievement given that it was only released in January 2011.
