Kanye West sued over Stronger
Posted on 30 Jun 2010 10:00 to category : Music News

Kanye West is being sued for copyright infringement.
The hip-hop star is facing legal action from rapper Vincent 'Vince P.' Peters who claims he sent Kanye's manager, John Monopoly, his version of 'Stronger' hoping Monopoly would executive produce the project.
Roc-A-Fella Records and UMG Recordings are named as defendants in the lawsuit filed in Illinois, Virginia, over two years after the song was released.
Vincent alleges Kanye's track 'Stronger' was released seven months after he sent his own interpretation to Monopoly and is adamant is sounds very similar to his concept. Vincent also insists his recording project fell through.
X17Online reports that court papers obtained by website EatSleepCelebrity.com, Kanye's version "copies significant and important parts of Peter's lyrics identically or almost identically".
In the documents, it also says that both versions of the song make reference to Kate Moss and the phrases "that which does not kill me makes me stronger," and "can't wait much longer" are also in both songs.
Vincent is seeking unspecified damages and asks that both labels be blocked from selling, distributing or having Kanye perform the song. He also requests that any remaining copies of the track be destroyed.
