Kanye West: The Musical
The rapper Kanye West has had a life that resembles a Hollywood movie and a personality to match, which is perhaps why a musical about his rise to the top seemed like a good idea.
Kanye West: The Musical will chart the hip hop star's meteoric rise from life in Atlanta, Georgia, to the cover of every magazine in the world.
Produced by the University of Sydney's drama society, the show will feature seminal moments in the producer-turned-performer's life, including a near fatal car crash, working behind the scenes on hit albums like Jay-Z's the Blueprint and his ventures into fashion.
Speaking to the LA Times, the show's co-creators, Philip Rosser and Damien Higginbotham, said that they were both huge fans of the rapper.
Mr Rosser added: "I thought that a musical in his honour would be a lot of fun to put on.
"I really just meant the show to be something fun for my friends to see and I'm pretty excited by all the attention it's been getting."
The show will not feature any of West's music, but will be comprised of original songs penned by the duo to imitate his distinct style.
West is currently promoting his new collaborative album The Throne, which he co-produced with Jay-Z.
