Judas Priest star 'inspired others to use Gibson Flying V'

Judas Priest member KK Downing was a large inspiration for many of the musicians who have since gone on to use the Gibson Flying Vguitar, it has been suggested.
According to music journalist Ted Drozdowski, others who have gone on to play the Flying V since Downing include Kirk Hammett of Metallica and Dave Mustaine of Megadeth.
"The image of Downing under the bright lights brandishing the sleek, futuristic Gibson model helped influence a generation of metal guitarists to play the Flying V and other V-shaped guitars," the writer said in an article on the Gibson website.
He added that the Judas Priest star continues to champion the Gibson Flying V and remains a "metal monster" thanks to his excellent guitar playing abilities.
Last month, a Flying Vguitar signed by the members of Metallica was presented to Colombian musician Juanes by Gibson in honour of his achievement in winning the BMI President Award at the Latin Music Awards.
