Jonas Brothers inspire children to play musical instruments
Posted on 19th Nov 2009 12:00 to category Instruments News
Budding electric guitar players, bassists and drummers in Tyneside were this week treated to a visit from US pop stars the Jonas Brothers.
The music stars visited a school in Gateshead as part of an initiative by the UK government to encourage young children to pick up a musical instrument.
Steve Williamson, head teacher at Ryton Comprehensive, said he hopes the Jonas Brothers' visit would inspire more children to get involved in music.
The band shared tips with pupils on a number of subjects, such as arranging a song and advice on learning the guitar.
Kevin Jonas, who plays electric guitar in the band, added that he hoped the visit would also prove inspiring to those who do play an instrument but do not practise enough.
The visit came during the group's UK tour, which arrives at Wembley Arena tomorrow night, before calling at Manchester.
They are also due to perform in Dublin and Paris next week.
