Johnny Marr records guitar-focused soundtrack for new film
Electric guitar player Johnny Marr has recorded the soundtrack to forthcoming film The Big Bang.
The movie, which stars Antonio Banderas and has been described as a "weird sort" of detective film by Marr, is scheduled to be released in the autumn of this year, with the soundtrack also set to be made available around the same time.
Speaking to NME, Marr said he went for an "atmospheric" feel for the soundtrack, something he achieved "by making the guitar sound electronic".
"Where other people would have used orchestras I've made the same effect using guitars," the musician explained.
Marr, who made his name in The Smiths and currently plays with The Cribs, recently came fourth in a vote to find the best guitarist of the past 30 years.
He was beaten to the top of the BBC 6 Music Axe Factor poll by Matt Bellamy, Slash and overall winner John Frusciante.
