Johnny Marr claims Ivor Novello Award
Posted on 22 May 2010 09:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Electric guitar legend Johnny Marr was honoured with a special accolade at the Ivor Novello Awards in London yesterday (May 20th 2010).
The former Smiths man claimed the Inspiration Prize at the prestigious ceremony, receiving a congratulatory embrace from Noel Gallagher as he walked up to collect his gong.
"I always thought that the greatest thing you can achieve as a musician is to be called an inspiration - aside from a big house in Sunningdale obviously," Marr told the audience.
Following a stint with US rockers Modest Mouse, the 46-year-old Mancunian joined The Cribs as an official member in 2008.
His distinctive electric guitar playing can be heard prominently on the West Yorkshire band's 2009 album Ignore the Ignorant, which also features songwriting contributions from Marr.
Other winners at this year's Ivor Novellos included Lily Allen, who took home three awards, including songwriter of the year with co-writer Greg Kurstin.
