Johnny Marr bringing out charity single
Posted on 23 Sep 2010 08:18 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Johnny Marr is set to release a new solo single in aid of charity, it has been confirmed.
The Mancunian, who played electric guitar in The Smiths and Modest Mouse among others, has already been in the studio to record his take on Tendency to Be Free, which was originally released by Rabbit Mackay back in 1969
It has now been announced that the song will be made available to the public on October 4th, with all the money raised through sales to go to the London-based homeless charity Centrepoint.
Marr, who now plays electric guitar with The Cribs, is just one of a number of acts taking time out to do their bit to help the charity celebrate its 40th anniversary.
As well as Hard-Fi, who have been busy recording their version of 1969 by The Stooges, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly has also recorded David Bowie's classic Space Oddity, with all of the songs to be compiled for a special charity album, which will be available online later in the month.
Just last month it was announced that Marr had penned and recorded the theme song for a new Channel 4 sitcom.
