Johnny Cash fans campaign for rerelease of 'lost album'
The son of late acoustic guitar legend Johnny Cash has lent his voice to calls for Sony to rerelease a "lost" album by the singer.
Bitter Tears was first brought out in 1964 and is a concept record about the mistreatment of Native Americans in the US.
But the album remains virtually unknown among fans of Cash as many DJs and radio stations did not play it, while his then-record label Columbia distanced itself from the controversial album, reports Billboard Magazine.
John Carter Cash has now joined campaigners calling for a rerelease of Bitter Tears.
"This album solidifies my father's role as a humanitarian and a spokesman for the underdog," he said.
"It's such an important historical record and I'd love to see it get a proper rerelease."
The acoustic guitar star had a string of hits during his lifetime, including Ring of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues and I Walk the Line.Posted on 25 Feb 2010 07:49 to category : Band / Celebrity News
