John Lydon plans new PiL tracks
Posted on 15 Apr 2010 07:00 to category : Music News

John Lydon is planning to record new PiL material "as soon as we've made enough money".
The legendary punk singer has largely financed his group's current tour with profits he made by appearing in an advert for Country Life butter in Britain, and if they make enough money from touring he hopes they will be able to return to the studio.
John, 54, said: "As soon as we've made enough money to be able to get ourselves into position of recording, we will. It's very difficult to start something up like this. It requires a hell of a lot of effort and a hell of a lot of work.
"For those detractors who think Public Image is some kind of John Lydon elaborate joke - the joke's on you, for not having an open and sensible mind enough to know that for 30 years I've provided nothing but the highest of music forms. And I intend to continue that."
John - who started his career as lead singer in punk leaders The Sex Pistols - also described the current incarnation of PiL, short for Public Image Limited, as "the best band I've been in, in my whole life" and talked about his songwriting process.
He added to website livedaily.com: "There's No hard and fast rules. Absolutely. When I'm recouping my batteries, which is very important, there's no doubt something working in there - although I'm usually oblivious to it until I just wake up one morning and that'll be it. I'll have something completed in my head. It's give and take. The minute you have rules for songwriting, it becomes not songs at all; it becomes a real boring factory operating. That's not what we are."
