John Lennon’s Guitar to Fetch Over Half a Million USD Under Hammer

John Lennon
John Lennon’s iconic guitar, which was used to write Love me do, and other classic Beatles songs, disappeared mysteriously in 1963 but has been discovered in the US and will go to auction in November 2015 – It is claimed the guitar could be worth between $600,000 and $800,000.

The item had made its way to San Diego, USA and was purchased by a guitar enthusiast called John McCaw, who bought the guitar for a few hundred dollars in the 70s. McCaw did not realise the significance of the instrument until a friend had pointed out a striking resemblance with a John Lennon's J-160E Gibson pictured in a book written by Beatles expert, Andy Babuik.

After much research, the instrument in McCaw’s possession has been verified by experts that it is the guitar that once belonged to the iconic Beatles frontman. The guitars serial number and imperfections within the details from high definition video tapes helped verify its history.

The reason for the disappearance is still unknown. Follow Gear4music.com on Facebook and Twitter to be the first to hear about the latest music gear offers and news.
