Joe Perry reveals why he plays guitar right-handed
Speaking to MusicRadar, the Aerosmith star revealed that he was a big fan of acts such as Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley during his youth.
Perry revealed that his passion for music led to his parents buying him an acoustic guitar at an early age.
A 45 single that came with the instrument told him to hold a plectrum with the right hand and the neck with the left.
However, Perry is naturally left-handed, which means he should have been doing the exact opposite.
"Since that's how the record said to play the guitar, that's how I did it," he commented.
"It never occurred to me to change."
Perry's guitar playing can be heard on many classic rock hits by Aerosmith, including Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion and Love in an Elevator.Posted on 9 Sep 2009 12:08 to category : Band / Celebrity News
