Jimmy Page names Les Paul as guitar hero
Posted on 30 Dec 2009 23:00 to category : Instruments News

Les Paul has been named as a guitar hero by Led Zeppelin legend Jimmy Page.
According to the rock veteran, Paul deserves the title as no-one else has changed the world of music to the same extent.
Page said Paul's work took music in an entirely new direction, thereby making him a bona fide guitar hero.
Les Paul, who died earlier this year at the age of 94, is credited with pioneering many aspects of music that are now taken for granted, such as the use of tape delay, phasing, multitrack recording and overdubbing.
Page went on to dismiss the popular Guitar Hero video game, in which people simulate playing the instrument with the aid of classic rock tracks.
"That's not my idea of moving music forward," he commented.
Page added that playing a pretend electric guitar is more to do with image than music and is a waste of time.
