Jimmy Page 'great at power amp distortion'
Electric guitar legend Jimmy Page has been praised for showing musicians how power amp distortion can be done in a memorable and impressive manner.
In an article on the Gibson Lifestyle blog, columnist Peter Hodgson said the key to effective distortion on a power amp is getting the tone right.
He said players looking to get the correct idea about how to achieve this could look to Page for inspiration.
Mr Hodgson noted the former Led Zeppelin star occasionally makes use of external effects, but generally sticks to the use of a loud amp, an electric guitar and a well-placed microphone to achieve the sound he is looking for.
Jimmy Page recently released a photographic autobiography, which contained more than 650 images of his career as one of the world's most iconic electric guitar players.
The star went through thousands of prints to choose the best pictures and arrange them with a coherent narrative structure.
