Jimmie Vaughan speaks about Fender Stratocaster obsession
Speaking to Guitar Aficionado magazine, the Texan star revealed the extent of his devotion to the musical instruments.
"I used to ride the bus downtown to stare at them in the shop windows, because they looked like Corvettes," he said in comments reported by the official Fender blog FrontRow.
"They were so beautiful in all their colours, lined up in a row. I used to dream about them."
Vaughan has amassed a collection of more than 200 guitars over the course of his career but said that his favourite is a 1958 Fender Stratocaster he owns.
The instrument featured on the cover of Fabulous Thunderbird's What's The Word? album, which was released back in 1980.
Vaughan founded the band back in the 1970s, who went on to play with several musical greats such as BB King, Buddy Guy and Albert King.
He left the group in 1990 to record a joint album with brother Stevie Ray Vaughan, going on to his own solo work and guest appearances on records from the likes of Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan.
