Jimi Hendrix "was a master of the electric guitar"
Posted on 17 Aug 2010 19:10 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Muse's Matt Bellamy has spoken about how rock legend Jimi Hendrix inspired him to pick up an acoustic guitar and make his own music.
In a recent NME blog post, the frontman describes how he was profoundly affected after seeing Hendrix's televised performance at the Monterey Pop Festival.
Bellamy said it was the "freedom" and "expression" that Hendrix brought to the performance which changed his life and inspired him to pick up a guitar.
He said: "There was a sense of wild, reckless danger, capped when he famously smashed his guitar at the end, then set it on fire."
After viewing the performance, a young Bellamy began playing an acoustic guita and later went on to front successful rock band Muse.
Matt Bellamy's Muse are due to play at the Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Manchester next month, giving fans the chance to hear classic tunes such as Knights of Cydonia and Starlight.
