Jimi Hendrix all-time Guitar hero
The singer-songwriter, who passed way tragically at the age of 27 in 1970, is one of the most revered musicians all of all time as this new survey again testifies.
Even after 40-plus years since he died, his mastery of the electric guitar still leaves many in the business – as well as fans from all around the world – speechless.
Speaking to the magazine, Tom Morello, himself a Grammy-winning guitarist, said: "Jimi Hendrix exploded our idea of what rock music could be: he manipulated the guitar, the whammy bar, the studio and the stage.
"His playing was effortless. There's not one minute of his recorded career that feels like he's working hard at it — it feels like it's all flowing through him."
Others in the list include a motley crew of the "who's who" of the music business, past and present.
Following Hendrix in second place is Eric Clapton, then Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck, BB King, Chuck Berry, Eddie Van Halen, Duane Allman and Pete Townshend.
That's a top ten most people would agree to being quite spectacular.
