Jay-Z to sign Tinie Tempah?
Jay-Z wants to hold talks with Tinie Tempah about signing him in the US.
The 'Forever Young' hitmaker said he's impressed with the way British music has come into its own in recent years, and wants to meet with the 'Pass Out' rapper with a view to making him big in America.
Speaking about Tinie, Jay told BBC Radio 1: "If he wants to be really, really super successful he should come and see us. I've been hearing about him for a minute and I'm really happy about the music that's being made over in the UK.
"For a lot of time, and I hope that no-one takes this the wrong way, but for a lot of time everything was an imitation of what was being made in the states and now, it's like different cultures are expressing themselves.
"And when you go into another country you don't want to hear what you did back home, you want to hear what is this culture, you want to swap cultures, that's when it's a rewarding experience, when it's back and forth - and I think the music scene here is reaching that point."
Jay was in the UK for business talks this week, and to further his ambition of making his Roc Nation setup the "best entertainment company ever"; something he feels he's already on the way to achieving, listing how Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Cee Lo and Alexis Jordan - all currently in the UK top ten singles - all have ties to his business.
Jay also spoke about working with Kanye West in the historic town of Bath, South Western England, on a joint album they are planning.
He added: "Its' really early in the process, it's making great progress, doing a lot of work really quick because it's a natural vibe. With Kanye we have different sort of relationship, he's like a brother to me, I think he's a genius musician and he cares about the music on a whole different level."Posted on 5 Nov 2010 09:45 to category : Band / Celebrity News
