Jane's Addiction preview first new song in eight years
Jane's Addiction previewed their first new song in eight years, 'End to the Lies', yesterday (30.03.11).
The 'Been Caught Stealing' rockers have recently finished recording comeback 'The Great Escape Artist' and frontman Perry Farrell unveiled the first track from it on a Chilean radio station.
Asked by the DJ to introduce the song, Perry replied: "Sure, it is called 'End to the Lies', by Jane's Addiction and its brand new, and we're especially bringing it to Chile."
The singer, 52, is in the country with the band - which also features guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins - for the his Lollapalooza festival, which celebrates its 20th birthday by launching for the first time outside of the US this Saturday (02.04.11).
Jane's Addiction went through huge difficulties recording 'The Great Escape Artist', losing two bassists in the process. Original member Eric Avery left shortly after recording began in 2010 and was later replaced with Duff McKagan, although he left the group after a few months citing "artistic differences". The bass parts were eventually played by Tv On The Radio musician Dave Sitek, who also produced.
Perry said: "It's definitely like, as Brian Wilson puts it: The dry hump. We're waiting and waiting and waiting to release this record. It's like watching something that you really want. You become an animal. Your desire grows and grows."
The band are also looking for a new touring bassist, as Dave has to go back to his original group.Posted on 31 Mar 2011 10:00 to category : Music News
