Jamiroquai cancels show
Jamiroquai cancelled a concert last night (24.03.11) after the death of one of their stage hands.
The 'Virtual Insanity' hitmakers had been due to play a show at the La Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon, France, but cancelled after a 26-year-old worker lost his footing and fell 50ft from a gantry.
Frontman Jay Kay wrote on his Facebook page: "The band was shocked and saddened when told the news, and out of respect immediately felt the right decision was to cancel the show. A police investigation is taking place."
This is not the first time a star has to cancel a show following a tragedy.
In 2009, Madonna axed one of her shows at the Velodrome stadium in Marseilles, France, after two workers died following the collapse of a stage set as they prepared for a show in her 'Sticky and Sweet' world tour.
The singer released a statement at the time saying: "I'm devastated at the tragic news. My prayers go to those who were injured and their families."
The 'Material Girl' hitmaker was told of the accident while she was rehearsing for her concert at Friuli Stadium, in Udine, Italy, and later in the evening, stopped her performance, telling the audience: "I ask you for a moment to stop and think of the people who have lost their lives, we need to appreciate life, the people we love and our families."Posted on 25 Mar 2011 10:00 to category : Music News
