Jail Guitar Doors project praised by politician
Posted on 2 Aug 2010 20:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Billy Bragg's Jail Guitar Doors scheme has been commended by a Scottish politician.
The initiative provides musical instruments to prison inmates with the intention of giving them a positive experience that will aid their rehabilitation.
Guitars have been provided to 20 prisons throughout the UK and the Scottish Prison Service has confirmed it hopes five more of its sites will benefit from the programme, reports the Scotsman.
Labour MSP George Foulkes said: "Jail Guitar Doors is a fantastic initiative that will help in the rehabilitation of prisoners.
"It is essential that we find new methods of engaging with prison inmates."
Six guitars have gone to Saughton Prison north of the border, where wardens have been giving inmates lessons on how to play the musical instrument.
Last month, it was announced that Bragg has arranged a new compilation album, which is entitled Breaking Rocks, in aid of the Jail Guitar Doors project.
