Jack White only wanted to drum
Posted on 7 May 2010 16:30 to category : Music News

Jack White only ever wanted to be a drummer.
The multi instrumentalist rose to fame in The White Stripes - in which he sang and played guitar, while his bandmate, Meg White, was behind the kit - but has now revealed he'd rather have been a drummer all along.
Jack - who drums for The Dead Weather - told The Sun newspaper: "It's really nice to be back behind the drum kit again.
"When I was a kid, all I wanted to be was a drummer and be a drummer for the rest of my life."
Jack also praised Alison Mosshart, who joins him in The Dead Weather alongside guitarist Dean Fertita and bassist Jack Lawrence, whom he thinks is even better at fronting a group than even himself.
Jack added: "She is an incredible person to work with, and you can't touch her onstage. I've never been in a band where everyone is just staring at the singer.
"She captivates girls and boys at the same time, which is hard for a frontwoman to do because you run the risk of making a lot of girls hate you, but girls love her even more than the guys."
The Dead Weather's second album, 'Sea Of Cowards', is released on Monday (11.05.10).
