Posted on 28 Apr 2010 16:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

JLS and Scouting For Girls will receive trophies at this year's O2 Silver Clef Awards.
Boyband JLS are to pick up the Newcomer Award at the 35th annual music industry honours, while Scouting For Girls will be named Best British Band.
The self styled 'People's Tenor' Russell Watson has also been named as recipient of the Classical Award at the event.
Receiving news of their win, 'Beat Again' hitmakers JLS said: ""We are so honoured and humbled to be winning such a prestigious award.
"There are so many amazing new artists at present and to be considered, let alone win the best newcomer award is truly incredible. We are so grateful, and delighted to be attending an event that does so much good work. We Love you guys. JLS."
The award winners in the other categories featured in the O2 Silver Clef awards will be announced at the event on July 2.
Categories include: Hard Rock's Ambassadors of Rock, Best International Act, Lifetime Achievement Prize, Icon Award and the Silver Clef Award itself, which is given for outstanding contribution to UK music.
Past recipients of this accolade include Oasis, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Robert Plant.
The awards also traditionally host a charity auction of memorabilia donated by stars, the proceeds of which are donated to the charity Nordoff Robbins.
