Ibanez bass guitars "easier on the hands"
Fred Calderon has revealed that it was the shape and feel of Ibanez bass guitars that led to him playing them instead of other brand instruments.
In an interview with the official Ibanez website, the Carnifex bassist revealed that he first tried out an Ibanez SR while on tour with Embrace the End and decided it felt better to play than what he had been using previously.
"It was the neck that sold me," he remarked. "It wasn't just the slimness of the neck, but the way it's shaped. It's just easier on my hands. I can palm it better."
Carnifex fit into the deathcore genre, but Calderon explained that he did not start his career as a musician by playing such heavy music.
He first took up an instrument at school, playing tuba, trombone and baritone horn for three years before moving on to bass.
Calderon will play several gigs in the UK in May as part of the Thrash and Burn European Tour 2009.Posted on 2 Feb 2009 11:46 to category : Band / Celebrity News
