IT technician swaps computers for the piano
A college IT technician has found a lucrative sideline as a piano player, tinkling the ivories for rich and famous audiences.
Dean Stockdale, who has been playing the music instrument since he was six, has been playing the piano at the Savoy Hotel in London, entertaining celebs such as Jude Law and Kate Moss, reports the Northern Echo.
"It is a great experience to play at the Savoy. It is a very prestigious venue with a lot of history and is attracting some big stars since the restoration," he told the local newspaper.
He added: "It's a great privilege to play there and I hope to continue doing so."
Mr Stockdale's love of music started when he was given an electric keyboard as a Christmas present when he as a child.
He then started having music lessons and fell in love with jazz.
As an adult he started playing at weddings and in hotels across the north-east before landing a gig at Michelin star chef Kenny Atkinson's restaurant at Rockliffe Hall, Hurworth.
He then started work at the Savoy.
Prior to the Savoy's recent refurbishment, the hotel's fixtures and fittings went up for sale, with the famed white grand piano which was played by the likes of Frank Sinatra being put up for auction.
