Hot Chip's Prince influence
Posted on 5 Feb 2010 07:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Hot Chip's latest album is inspired by Prince and The Beatles.
The 'Ready for the Floor' hitmakers confirmed their new LP 'One Life Stand' has multiple influences.
Singer Alexis Taylor said: "I went back to the songs I liked for a long time. The late Beatles, obviously, but Prince, too. His 80s LPs which never came out properly.
"And I heard modern music like garage and funk. Everything we could find. And classic house."
However, Alexis did add there was no R. Kelly influence, unlike the previous album 'Made in the Dark' .
He said: "While recording the last LP I heard a lot of R. Kelly's songs, so much so that I became obsessed with them. Nothing like that really happened this time around."
Alexis added the band, who have previously worked with 'Remedy' singer Little Boots and remixed for Amy Winehouse, were keen to avoid a pop sound on 'One Life Stand'.
He told German website jetzt.de: "One song I really liked, but after we finished it we found it to be too catchy.
"It was hard for us to decide if we arrived at the point we wanted to achieve - we wanted strong pop songs- or if we went too far. So we erased the song."
