Homage paid to Les Paul in radio documentary
Posted on 16 Aug 2010 20:55 to category : Music News

Stars from the world of music lined up to pay homage to electric guitar innovator Les Paul in a recent documentary about his life.
The BBC Radio 2 show recalled how Paul's experiments with solid body guitars and pick-ups were initially ignored by music industry executives, but his inventions went on to shape the world of music.
BB King, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were among those to praise the work and life of Paul, reports the Guardian.
Joe Bonamassa summed up how successful Paul's guitar innovations had been.
"Like many kids today, I thought Les Paul was a guitar, not a man," the musician explained.
Last week, Jim Henke, chief curator of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, told the News Herald that Paul helped to change the electric guitar from being chiefly a rhythm instrument into a piece of equipment that could be used for solos.
