Hendrix praised for Woodstock performance

Jimi Hendrix has been hailed for his legendary performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969.
Speaking to the Times, Woodstock lighting director Chip Monck described Hendrix's performance as "magnificent".
"Jimi's Star Spangled Banner really stopped me in my tracks," he commented.
Mr Monck added that many of the acts that performed at the event were nervous about appearing in front of such a large number of people.
For example, he noted that the "sheer scale" of the crowd made Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young in particular feel anxious before going on stage.
Many of the defining acts of the era appeared at Woodstock in 1969, including The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin and Santana.
