The Killers and Queens of the Stone Age will top the bill of the Spanish event and will play alongside the likes of Azealia Banks, Jake Bugg, Palma Violets, Echo Lake, Splashh and Swim Deep which were also announced.

Vince Power, the festival's organiser, explained: "I am really excited to announce The Killers and Queens of the Stone Age as our first headline acts for FIB Benicàssim 2013.

"After a fantastic festival in 2012 we are looking to forward to excelling ourselves this year with even more incredible acts gracing our stages over the four festival days."

The event marks an increasingly busy summer for The Killers with the band due to play a host of European dates including a huge show at Wembley Stadium scheduled for June 2013.

Meanwhile, Queens of the Stone Age are currently in the middle of recording a new album which is due to be released next year.
