Harry Potter composer given Classic Brit Award
The composer, who also worked on the famed Star Wars soundtrack, will be given the special going at this year's Classic Brit Awards.
Speaking about the accolade, Dickon Stainer, co-chairman of the Classic Brit Awards committee, said: "John Williams has crafted some of the most memorable film scores for over half a century and we are delighted that he has kindly accepted the Lifetime Achievement award in honour of his fine work."
Over the course of his illustrious career, Williams has earned five Academy Awards and four Golden Globes and worked on famous films such as Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Saving Private Ryan.
Other accolades include the Olympic Order from the International Olympic Committee , three Emmys, seven BAFTAs and 20 Grammys.
He has also worked on the music for four Olympic Games and served as the principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra.
