Gwyneth Paltrow's music deal collapses
Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow's record deal with Atlantic Records has collapsed.
Paltrow, who recently starred as an acoustic guitar playing singer in the movie Country Strong, was said to have been discussing producing a country-themed album, reported the New York Post.
However, other commitments like her foray into cooking – she has a new cooking book out – and of course her day job as an actor have made it difficult for the movie star to commit to producing an album.
A source told the newspaper: "Atlantic bosses were very interested, and Warner chief Lyor Cohen was very supportive. But then the talks halted and the deal fizzled out. There was a rumour that Paltrow wanted $1 million to sign, but that is a ridiculous figure."
Although the deal has collapsed the record company is still keen to sign the actress, who is married to piano player and singer-songwriter Chris Martin from the band Coldplay.
Paltrow can currently be seen on the hit TV show Glee as a substitute teacher. Such has been the success of her performance, that she has hinted that she may join the cast of the show on their live tour in the UK.
