Guns 'N' Roses close Leeds festival
Posted on 30 Aug 2010 16:30 to category : Music News

Guns 'N' Roses closed Leeds festival last night (29.08.10) despite threatening not to play.
The group's singer, Axl Rose, had stormed offstage at the festival's twin site in Reading on Friday (27.08.10) night, after receiving a volley of boos and chants from the crowd after the band were an hour late onstage.
He returned, however, and tried to play a final song, though promoters had turned the band's equipment off, fearing they would break a time curfew by over half an hour.
After singing through a microphone onstage in protest, Axl was then ushered off by security.
Last night, the band finished and played a final song, 'Paradise City' as an encore, which Axl introduced by telling the crowd: "We come here to play for you, but the cops and the promoters wanna f**k us in the as.
"We'd like to play a few more songs, but we'll just play one."
At the song's conclusion Axl announced: "Be safe, good night and to all the cops and promoters - f*k you."
Meanwhile, LCD Soundsystem and Mumford and Sons closed the other stages of the festival.
At the Reading site, Blink 182 headlined the main stage, where they made jokes about Axl Rose, and Klaxons closed the NME/Radio 1 stage. The group were celebrating new album 'Surfing The Void' reaching the top ten in the UK album charts.
Form the stage singer Jamie Reynolds said: "Thank you all so much, It's just overwhelming to headline.
"We've played here four times before and to close this stage is incredible."
