Guitarists face off in music competition
Two childhood friends and electric guitar players are set to go head-to-head in a forthcoming talent contest.
Laima Bite and Sarah Wilson-Blackwell are to face each other in the upcoming finals of the regional stages of the Open Mic UK contest, the Oxford Mail reported.
The two women, who have been friends for 25 years, are competing for a place in the live finals at the London O2 Arena for the prize of a recording contract and £50,000.
Mrs Wilson-Blackwell told the newspaper: "We have always been best mates.
"I even taught her to play the guitar. She was quite shy before that, so I think I created a monster."
She explained that whatever the outcome, they will continue to support one another's electric guitar playing and remain friends.
The two women could take some advice from blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa, who recently told the East Anglian Daily Times that he has never stopped learning new things about playing his guitar.
