Guitar-shaped park to celebrate Jimi Hendrix
Known as Jimi Hendrix Park, the 2.5-acre space will include "lyrical stepping stones, rain drums, a sculpted butterfly garden, performance area, sound garden and a green space".
It is being funded Janie Hendrix, the star's sister, as well as the Parks and Green Spaces Opportunity Fund and the Neighbourhood Matching Fund Award.
Hendrix once said: "Sometimes you want to give up the guitar, you'll hate the guitar. But if you stick with it, you're gonna be rewarded."
Hendrix, who tragically passed away the age of 27 in 1970, is rumoured to be the subject of a new movie biopic.
In an interview with Esquire(US), rising star Hayley Atwell suggested that Andre 3000 from OutKast is trying to get the project off the ground.
Rolling Stone magazine recently named Hendrix as the "Greatest Guitarist of All Time".
