Guitar players 'should record their practice sessions'
Posted on 4th Feb 2010 16:58 to category Instruments News
Guitar players aspiring to improve their technique should record what they sound like when they are practising, a musician has suggested.
Australian guitar player Tommy Emmanuel, who has played and toured with the likes of Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, told ChicoER.com that he plays all day to get up to the standard he deems acceptable.
He added that he has the same piece of advice for young musicians seeking to improve their skills on any instrument.
"Have a little cassette player and record yourself, then listen back and hear how it's going and what you need to work on," he advised.
Emmanuel said it was all too easy to become deaf to how the music being produced actually sounds.
"Listen back and get another perspective on it," he stated.
Earlier this week, Status Quo guitar player Francis Rossi told Time Out Dubai that he now practices for two hours a day to improve his technique something Rossi said he wished he had done when he was younger.
